AISA का जामिया VC ऑफिस के बाहर प्रदर्शन – SAY NO ADMISSION ON MERIT

देश के नंबर एक विश्वविद्यालय जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया के जरिए मेरिट बेस्ड छात्रों के एडमिशन लिए जाने की ख़बरों के बाद छात्रों के अंदर काफी रोष पाया जा रहा है। अब छात्र विंग AISA ने इस संबंध में वाइस चांसलर ऑफिस के बाहर जाकर के प्रदर्शन और रोष जताते हुए कहा है कि जामिया को फौरन मेरिट बेस एडमिशन का प्रपोजल वापस लेना चाहिए और प्रशासन को इस बात का स्पष्टीकरण देना चाहिए कि वह मेरिट पर कोई एग्जाम लेने नहीं जा रहा है।

देश के नंबर एक विश्वविद्यालय जामिया मिलिया इस्लामिया के जरिए मेरिट बेस्ड छात्रों के एडमिशन लिए जाने की ख़बरों के बाद छात्रों के अंदर काफी रोष पाया जा रहा है। अब छात्र विंग AISA ने इस संबंध में वाइस चांसलर ऑफिस के बाहर जाकर के प्रदर्शन और रोष जताते हुए कहा है कि जामिया को फौरन मेरिट बेस एडमिशन का प्रपोजल वापस लेना चाहिए और प्रशासन को इस बात का स्पष्टीकरण देना चाहिए कि वह मेरिट पर कोई एग्जाम लेने नहीं जा रहा है।

 

 

AISA की ओर से जारी प्रेस विज्ञप्ति में देश के कई अखबारों का हवाला देते हुए कहा गया है कि जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया की वेबसाइट पर भी यह बात स्पष्ट शब्दों में नोटिफिकेशन के जरिए देखी जा सकती है कि जो डाटा आपने दिया है उसी की बुनियाद पर मेरिट लिस्ट तैयार होगी। इससे साफ है कि जामिया मिल्लिया इस्लामिया प्रशासन मेरिट पर ही छात्रों को एडमिशन देने का पूरा मन बना चुका है। छात्रों का कहना है कि प्रशासन को अपने इरादे को बदलना चाहिए और वह छात्र जो गांव देहात और कस्बों से आते हैं उनके भविष्य पर ग्रहण लगाने के बजाय उनके साथ इंसानी मामला करना चाहिए और जैसे एंट्रेंस की प्रक्रिया चली आ रही थी उसको उसी ढंग से चलाना चाहिए।

 

 

छात्रों का कहना है कि प्रशासन का यह फैसला न सिर्फ छात्रों के हितों के खिलाफ है बल्कि कमजोर शोषित वंचित और आदिवासी वर्ग के छात्रों के खिलाफ है। प्रेस विज्ञप्ति में कहा गया है कि 27 अगस्त को एक डेलिगेशन की शक्ल में AISA और दूसरे संगठनों के छात्रों ने वाइस चांसलर से मुलाकात की कोशिश की लेकिन उन्हें वाइस चांसलर ऑफिस के बाहर ही सुरक्षा गार्डों ने रोक दिया। डेलिगेशन का मकसद यह था कि वह वाइस चांसलर को मेमोरेंडम देते और उनसे संवाद करते और उन्हें बताते कि मेरिट बेस एग्जाम के क्या नुकसानात हैं और इससे छात्रों को कितना नुकसान होने वाला है। छात्रों का यह भी आरोप है कि जब यूनिवर्सिटी मुशायरा करा सकती है तो एडमिशन के लिए एग्जाम क्यों नहीं कंडक्ट करा सकती है।

Press Statement on Delegation of AISA and other organizations on Merit-based Admissions in Jamia
In the light of recent News reports in Dainik Jagran and Hindustan Times and message on the admissions portal which reads "Merit List would be prepared based on the data entered by you here", it can fairly be concluded that instead of going ahead with the erstwhile mode of Admission via Entrance Test, the University administration has undemocratically and arbitrarily decided to adopt Merit based admission process for all the courses this year which is discriminatory and elitist. Students were shell shocked to see this anti-student and anti-minority move by the varsity administration. 
On 27th August, a delegation of AISA and other organizations tried to meet the VC but was stopped outside the VC Office by the Security Guards. The delegation was made to submit the memorandum in a makeshift box and no receiving was provided for the same. On 27th August itself the delegation submitted the memorandum which was addressed in the name Registrar with the officials making hollow assurances. Later, the delegation tried to meet Jamia Teachers' Association to raise the concerns of students and submit the memorandum but were denied entry through Gate No. 13 by guards and officials. 
The university failed to establish dialogue with the students on the issue of Merit-based Admissions. The silence on key demands like clearing the uncertainty regarding Merit-based Admissions which is taking a toll on the mental health of aspirants, the concerns of state Board and Madarsa Board students is appalling. The administration also failed to recognize the logic of demands in principle and didn't offer any satisfactory explanations why such anti-student policy is being brought up which previously didn't exist. Thus giving more concrete understanding that larger forces are working behind this policy. 
We appeal to the students of Jamia Millia Islamia and aspirants to join the struggle and fight against the larger forces who are working behind such garbs. Jamia has withstood the test of the times. This policy of conducting Merit-based Admissions shouldn't be seen in anyway in isolation but in larger politics where privatisation and saffronisation of public education is being carried out and democratic academic spaces transformed into elitist spaces. We thus reiterate that this exclusionary and arbitrary step by Jamia Administration to conduct Merit-based Admissions be taken back with immediate effect and Admissions be based on transparent mechanism of Entrance Test and Tests should be conducted once we get over this health crisis in terms of Covid pandemic.
